A fighter of punitive battalion Dnepr accused of killings of civilians in the troubled Ukrainian southeast was convoyed to Moscow for a psychological and psychiatric expertise at the clinic, spokesman of the Russian Investigative Committee Vladimir Markin told TASS.
“At the present time defendant Litvinov who had recently been convoyed to Moscow is to undergo a complex psychological and psychiatric expertise and was brought to a Moscow expert institution for the expertise. As in the case with Savchenko, this expertise is a standard procedure according to Russian legislation applied for defendants accused of grave and particularly heinous crimes and people who participated indirectly in armed conflicts,” Markin said, noting that this expertise mainly sought to find whether a defendant is sane or insane and whether he was able to participate in the trial.
Litvinov and his lawyer were informed legally about the expertise, the spokesman said.
