Russian Emergencies Ministry ready to deliver 3,000 tonnes of aid to Donetsk, Luhansk

Russia’s Emergencies Ministry hopes it will be able to deliver 3,000 tonnes of humanitarian supplies to the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.

“In Rostov we have gathered 3,000 tonnes of top priority cargoes,” Deputy Emergencies Minister Vladimir Stepanov told the Federation Council on Thursday. “All convoys are in Rostov. Under the established procedures we have addressed the Ukrainian leadership and notified the Red Cross we are ready. We hope that there will be a positive decision and we shall be able to deliver the cargoes to the recipients,” Stepanov said.

According to Vladimir Stepanov's earlier statement, the Russian humanitarian convoys would deliver up to 3,000 tonnes of relief aid to the Luhansk and Donetsk regions within a week.

Earlier on Thursday the latest Russian Emergencies Ministry’s humanitarian convoy for residents of Donetsk and Luhansk reached Russia’s southern Rostov region, Oleg Voronov, a deputy chief of the ministry’s national crisis management centre, told TASS.
“The convoy of 100 trucks has arrived to the Rostov region with no accidents or incidents,” he said, adding that the drivers were feeling well and the vehicles were in good condition.

The convoy is carrying about 1,000 tonnes of cargoes — building materials, foodstuffs, medicines and equipment necessary to get prepared for the upcoming winter. Earlier, the ministry’s planes delivered some 100 tonnes of humanitarian cargoes to Rostov-on-Don. These cargoes will later be transshipped to motor vehicles.
