Russian PM to visit Krasnodar Territory to discuss innovative technologies in agriculture

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will on Monday visit the village of Zhelezny in the Krasnodar Territory in the country’s south, where he will hold a meeting of the presidium of the Council on Modernization of Russia’s Economy and Innovative Development, the government press service reported.

The meeting will consider development of innovative technologies in agriculture, the press service said.
The head of government will also visit one of Russia’s largest agricultural holding companies - Kuban, which is engaged in animal husbandry, crop farming and other activities. The holding company unites 30 enterprises, has its own scientific and technical laboratory, which develops and introduces unique technologies.
Besides Medvedev, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich, plenipotentiary presidential representative in the Southern Federal District Vladimir Ustinov, Agriculture Minister Nikolai Fyodorov, heads of regions, banks, specialized enterprises and scientific-research institutes will attend the meeting.
A total of 194 state scientific institutions and 166 federal state unitary enterprises of Russia’s Federal Scientific Organizations Agency with the overall number of employees of 25,400 work on innovations in Russia’s agro-industrial sector. Their research is funded from the federal budget. A total of 378.4 million rubles ($8.3 million at current rates) was allocated for these purposes in 2014.
