Sharmazanov: “Decision on EEU accession is conditioned by Armenia’s and Artsakh’s reinforcement”
Armenia
The Armenian authorities examined the potential positive and negative consequences before deciding to join the Eurasian Economic Union. This is what Eduard Sharmazanov announced during a discussion on the agreement on Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union at the National Assembly. “The issue that is currently being discussed in parliament is very crucial for the future development of our country. So, it’s normal to hear different views and sentimental evaluations in parliament. However,
exaggeration is not normal. First, I would like to make it clear to everyone that accession to any union can’t only have positive consequences for any country, and every country examines the potential positive and negative aspects before accession to any union,” Sharmazanov mentioned as he touched upon the criticism against the Armenian authorities for deciding to join the EEU, according to “ArmenPress”.
The NA Deputy Speaker also touched upon the deputies’ questions about the possible dangers that Artsakh will face and mentioned that Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union has nothing to do with Artsakh’s borders or the recognition of Artsakh. Sharmazanov emphasized that Armenia’s decision to join the Eurasian Economic Union is conditioned by the strengthening of Armenia’s independence and security, as well as the economic and political reinforcement of the Republic of Armenia and Artsakh.
