According to Haykakan Zhamanak, renowned sport journalist Armen Nikoghosyan released an open letter urging political forces not to implicate sportsmen in the election campaign and in politics.

“The president of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia, the president of the Football Federation of Armenia and the president of the Armenian Chess Federation should officially announce that leading sportsmen will not participate in the election campaign. Leave these guys alone,” reads the letter.
