Investigators after a newspaper reporter who visited Nemtsov murder suspects in custody

Pavel Gusev, the editor-in-chief of the Moskovsky Komsomolets daily, told TASS early on Thursday, investigators were after the newspaper’s correspondent Eva Merkacheva, who had visited suspects in Boris Nemtsov’s murder at a detention ward as a member of the public monitoring commission.
"On Thursday morning, Eva will come to the Investigations Committee with a lawyer and we will file a request to initiate a criminal case on charges of hampering journalist activity against those who came to her apartment," Gusev said, adding that the night visitors "tried to teach her what and how she should write."

Earlier he said that shortly after midnight three men had come to Merkacheva’s apartment. "They showed documents of the Investigative Committee. Eva was not in." She did not pick up her mobile phone for some time, but the newspaper’s reporters managed to find her. "I spoke with her, she is all right," Gusev said.
Another member of the public commission, Andrey Babushkin, who is also a member of the Russian human rights council, told TASS over the phone he was speaking with an investigator from the Investigations Committee.
On March 10, Babushkin and Merkacheva visited the suspects in the murder of Russian politician Boris Nemtsov. In the meantime, the Russian Investigations Committee came up with a statement warning against interfering into the investigation of Nemtsov’s murder and said it would give a legal opinion of Babushkin’s and Merkacheva’s actions, who wanted to know the details of the criminal case while visiting the detention ward.
