Crimean authorities had no relation to funeral of Yanukovych’s son — leader

The authorities of Crimea had no role in organizing the funeral of Ukrainian ex-president’s son Viktor, the head of the Crimean Republic, Sergey Aksyonov, told reporters on Tuesday.
"We were not involved in this, we found out about this from mass media," Aksyonov said.

Viktor Yanukovych junior, 33, reportedly drowned when a minivan he was driving fell into the ice of Siberia’s Lake Baikal on March 20.
Viktor, a racing car enthusiast, who led the Ukrainian Automobile Association during the rule of his father, reportedly failed to unbuckle his seat belt to get out of the vehicle. Five other passengers of the minibus were saved.
Viktor was buried at a cemetery in Sevastopol, Crimea, on Monday, the media reports said.
A clergyman of the St. Nicholas Church in Sevastopol has confirmed this information to TASS. He said the body was taken to the church at the military Brotherhood Cemetery in Sevastopol overnight to Monday.

"The burial service was attended by the relatives, including Yanukovych [ex-Ukrainian president]," the clergyman said. "The woman, apparently the mother, burst into tears. There was also a little boy there, most likely, the son and several other people," he said.
The relatives arrived at the church in Sevastopol on Monday afternoon, the clergyman said. "There were not many people there, but it seemed that this was a very loved person," he said.
A TASS correspondent said there were many guards at the burial ceremony and "no strangers were let at the cemetery."
The death of Viktor was confirmed by Ukraine’s former ruling Party of Regions on Monday. The party’s leadership sent sincere condolences to Viktor's parents, his widow Olga and son Ilya.
