White House calls on Turkey to regulate relations with Armenia
USA
On the centennial of the mass killings of the Armenians in 1915, the United States of America intends to call on Turkey and Armenia to accept all the facts related to these tragic events. Armenpress reports that the Deputy Spokesperson of the White House Eric Schultz stated about it on April 22.
“We intend to use the occasion of the centennial to draw attention to the horrible events of the 1915 and call to provide for a full, frank and just acknowledgment of the facts, which, we think, is in the interests of all the sides”, said Schultz, clarifying that he meant Turkey, Armenia and the United States.
The journalists asked, why the US President Barack Obama does not pronounce the word “genocide” now, when during his electoral campaign in 2008 he did it on the Armenians’ killings in 1915. “The President and other high ranking officials of the Administration have recognized a historical fact that 1,5 million Armenians were killed in the last days of the Ottoman Empire”, said the Deputy Spokesperson of the White House. According to TASS, the representatives of the White House again called on Turkey to regulate the relations with Armenia.
