The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan does not support the project of organizing an Azerbaijani film festival in Armenia`s Gyumri city on April 12, 1news.az reports quoting the statement of head of the department of art Yusif Sheykhov.
"I don`t understand how Armenians will get those films. In fact, all these films are kept in our State Fund of Films, and without the allowance of the country none of the films can be taken from there," mentioned Sheykhov.
To note, the Caucasus Center for Peacemaking Initiatives in collaboration with the British Embassy to Armenia is organizing an Azerbaijani film festival, Stop, in Armenia’s second largest city of Gyumri.
The Center expects the event to promote an environment of direct communication to introduce the Armenian audience with the best samples of the contemporary Azerbaijani film industry.
The festival program includes four short-length movies produced in Azerbaijan between 2007 and 2008. One of the films is a documentary.
The film series lasts an hour and 33 minutes. The best film to be awarded a prize in the Audience Sympathy nomination will be selected as a result of voting.
All the films have been translated into Armenian. People from capital Yerevan and other cities and towns will be offered special transportation to attend the event.
