Anna Arakelyan won the Miss Armenia 2012 title at yesterday’s contest held in Yerevan’s Gabriel Sundukyan Theatre.

This success paves her way to the Miss World contest in which Armenia will have its first ever participation this year.

Yesterday’s event had brought together 17 participants aged 18-24. Anita Gabrielyan, 17, and Katerina Abrahamyan, 18, were awarded the second and third prizes, respectively. It was the first Miss Armenia contest in the past five years. In 2007, Margarita Sarukhanyan was declared Armenia’s miss beauty.

Miss Armenia participants have also represented the country at international beauty contests, including Miss Europe, Miss Asia and Oceania, Miss Transcaucasus, and Miss CIS.
