USA urges parties to respect ceasefire along Karabakh Line of Contact: Warlick
USA
The United States wants that the tension along the Line of Contact and the Armenia-Azerbaijan border be reduced, the ceasefire
be respected and the sides reach conflict settlement through negotiations. James Warlick, the U.S. Co-Chair of the Organization for
Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group, answered the aforementioned in reply to Armenpress’s question as how the States assess the fact that immediately after the European Games in Baku Azerbaijan again destabilizes the situation violating the ceasefire both on the ArmenianAzerbaijan border and along the Line of Contact of ArtsakhAzerbaijan.
“The United States has repeatedly urged the parties to take all measures to respect the ceasefire, a message the Co-Chairs collectively brought to the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan during our meetings in the region last week. We remain hopeful the sides will continue to exhibit the restraint they demonstrated over the last several months, which will only help our efforts to mediate a lasting settlement. If the sides truly want a negotiated settlement, they need to reduce tensions along the Line of Contact and the ArmeniaAzerbaijan border,”said James Warlick.
After the European Games in Baku Azerbaijan again shows unconstructive attitude violating the ceasefire and causing tension on the border. According to the official press releases of the Ministry of Defense of NagornoKarabakh Republic and the Republic of Armenia, the rival violates the ceasefire every day using different caliber weapons. The Armenian Armed Forces are in control of the situation and successfully carry out counterattacks silencing the rival’s activeness.
