Armenian premier visits Candle research institute.

Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan chaired a sitting of the Coordinating Council at the Yerevan-based Candle accelerating research institute.
Before discussing the agenda, the Armenian premier got acquainted with the institute’s activities and planned projects. The Coordinating Council informed Premier Tigran Sargsyan of the work aimed at promoting the Candle project, as well as of the first stage of the AREAL linear accelerator project.
The participants mentioned numerous meetings with the heads of accelerating research centers in France, Germany and Switzerland. The sides reached cooperation agreements under which the Armenian center received €1.5m worth equipment for constructing the AREAL linear accelerator. Also, €1m worth equipment is expected to be delivered to Armenia soon.
Under the cooperation agreements, young scientists were sent to take retraining courses abroad.
The Armenian premier ordered the heads of relevant agencies to include the Candle project on the agenda of Armenia’s scientific and technical cooperation with Russia, France, Germany, Switzerland and China.
Armenia is implementing the AREAL project in cooperation with the DESY center (Germany), PSI center (Switzerland), Stamford-based SLAG center and Novosibirsk Institute of Nuclear Physics.
