Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s circles are examining the option of holding early presidential elections in either October or November, according to which Sargsyan must resign in September, Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes, referring to its well-informed sources.
“The idea for snap [presidential] elections resurfaced because of the results of the May 6 [National Assembly] NA elections.
Sargsyan’s team recorded that it has a working mechanism for holding controllable elections, and this mechanism must be put to work as soon as possible, in order for Sargsyan to be reelected.
[And] After what happened in the NA elections, the idea for snap presidential elections seems feasible,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
