The first sitting of the new parliament is scheduled for May 24, the third Thursday after elections, vice chairman of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Galust Sahakyan told the daily.

The paper says according to the Constitution on that day the government must resign.

Ruling circles are actively discussing candidacies for the posts of the National Assembly chairman and head of the government. The paper says candidacies of incumbent premier Tigran Sargsyan, former parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan and incumbent parliament chairman Samvel Nikoyan are being circulated.
