"Zhoghovurd": Yerevan Komitas Conservatoire building to be sold?

Armenia’s government is going to sell the building of Yerevan Komitas Conservatoire, more probably, for a construction of an elite apartment building or a hotel complex.

According to the paper, the authorities have decided to unite Conservatoire with the Khachatur Abovian State Pedagogical University.

Speaking to the daily, pro-rector of Conservatoire Ruben Terteryan said such news are really circulating. Singer Anna Mayilyan, who gives lessons in the Conservatoire, said she is against uniting the establishment to another one. “It is a cultural building, it has its history and it should not be destroyed in one day. I do not know why they want to do it but the Conservatoire has its traditions. There is no practice in the world to destroy country’s culture,” the paper cited her as saying.
