At the Republican Party’s executive board meeting on Thursday, president Serzh Sargsyan reportedly said that he now periodically meets with the leaders of different political forces.
Speaking to the paper, however, a spokesperson of the ruling party, Edward Sharmazanov, refused to name any political force. He only told Zhoghovurd that the president had no meeting with the leader of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC).
Citing its sources, the paper says that the president recently met with the leaders of the Prosperous Armenia and Rule of Law parties, and the senior representatives of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaksutyun (ARF-D).
According to the paper, Sargsyan seeks in this manner to unite all these parties in a coalition to obtain their promise that none of them will nominate a candidate for the 2013 presidential election.
