According to the newspaper sources, the Italian Embassy in Armenia, responsible for granting visas to Italy, Spain and Finland, ceased to grant a visa to RA citizens to Spain. The Embassy officials stated that the RA citizens are required to apply to the Lithuanian Embassy in Armenia to receive a visa to Spain. The daily attempted to clarify the reasons for suspending the process; however the Consulate Department suggested presenting the request in a written form. No response was issued on part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on this matter either. The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tigran Balayan stated that the Ministry does not deal with visa granting issues. It is surprising that Armenian citizens are banned from the opportunity to visit a foreign country; however MFA does not care at all.
“All we can do is to wait for a response from the Italian Embassy. They may clarify who is responsible to the citizens who reached a deadlock,”-concluded the daily.
