Four Candidates to Bid for the Presidential Post of NKR

Today, on June 15 the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Central Electoral Commission convened a session, moderated by the CEC Chair Rashid Petrosyan. The NKR CEC informed Lurer.com that the session hosted the nominated presidential candidates, their associates, CEC staff and media representatives.

During the session the CEC discussed the matter of registering as presidential candidates the citizens who nominated themselves as NKR presidential candidates.

And after discussions, the CEC decided to register the following persons as NKR presidential candidates based on the requirements of the Electoral Code:

Vitali Balasanyan – NKR National Assembly member; no party affiliation.
Valeri Khachatryan – pensioner; no party affiliation.
Bako Sahakyan – Incumbent NKR President; no party affiliation.
Arkadi Soghomonyan – Deputy Director of Academic Activities at the NKR capital Stepanakert Branch of State Agrarian University of Armenia; no party affiliation.

At the end of the session Rashid Petrosyan updated the attendees on the current activities of preparation for the presidential elections.

According to him, based on the terms defined by the law, 274 precincts were prepared. One of those precincts will be located in the NKR representation in Armenia for those NKR citizens, who temporality live in Armenia.

The NKR presidential elections will be held on July 19.
