Slovenia will Need Financial Assistance

Slovenia can become the sixth country of EU, which will need financial assistance, as problems arose in the banking system of the country.
Financial assistance has already been given to Greece, Portugal, Ireland, Spain and Cyprus.
These days EU committee has made a decision to provide state financial assistance to the biggest bank Nova Ljubljanska Banka of Slovenia. They will receive 382.9 million euros. Works have begun to evaluate the effectiveness of bank recover program. This is the second assistance provided to this bank. Last year the same bank received assistance of 250 million euros.
Prime Minister of Slovenia Janez Janša at the end of May proclaimed about worsening the condition of the country and stated about the possibility of development of “Greek script” in the country. He also mentioned that the state would do its best to prevent danger.
According to the Prime Minister of the country there is need to finish re-capitalization of NLB bank, although he is of the opinion that they won’t receive any outer financial assistance.
According to Eurostat data, last year’s GDP was 35,354 billion euros. National debt reached 47.6% of GDP, as compared to 2007 it increased twice. According to the predictions of experts, national debt of Slovenia can reach to 54.7% till the end of the year.
