Peaceful Settlement of Syrian Problem is in Hands of Russia and Iran: Le Monde

Russia and Iran are the countries that have a key role in the settlement of conflict in Syria. This idea was express by the UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Anan.
“Russia has considerable impact on Syria, but I’m not sure that the development of events decides only that side. Iran also plays a big role in Syria conflict. This country should become a participant in the settlement of this problem. This country also has impact on Syria, and we shouldn’t ignore it”,
According to the magazine, in the interview Annan “nervously” replied to the question, that the key role players of the conflict settlement Russia and Iran are the weapon suppliers to Bashar Asad regime. The latter stated that very little is spoken about other countries, which supply weapon and serious financial assistance to Syria.
Anan also accepted that his plan of peaceful settlement of the conflict failed.
“Tremendous efforts were put to give peaceful solution to the problem. We didn’t enlist any success in this case, and I can’t guarantee that we’ll succeed at last”, he completed.
