Armenian Church in Malatya will be Repaired

Holy Trinity Armenian Church of Chavushoghli neighborhood in Malatia, which, due to the Armenian Union’s efforts, a few months agoappeared in the list of the buildings subject to repairing by the Turkish Ministry of culture and tourism, will be repaired.
For the repairing of the church in Hrant Dink’s birthplace and for the repairing of other churches, the special department of the state of Malatia have already checked out money. The amount ofthe allocated money is not mentioned in Malatya Council decision.
It is foreseen that after renovation the church is to act as a cultural center, but about 60 Armenian Christians living in Malatya, will do everything to receive the permission to run religious ceremonies in the church.
Note, that the need for renovation of Holy Trinity Church in Malatya, first was raised by Hrant Dink in 2002, whowas born in Malatya. Holy Trinity Church, which is also called Tashhoronby people, operated up to 1915, after which up to 1940 it has been a military storage, then has been left to the mercy of fate.
