Arabian Countries Call on Bashar-al-Assad to Resign
Middle East
The Arab League countries called on President of Syria Bashar al-Assad to resign “for the sake of the country”. This statement was made after a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Arab League, held in Doha on Sunday.
"By taking this bold decision Bashar al-Assad will be able to stop the destruction and killing in Syria," said the Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, summing up the results of the meeting at a press conference. This position he said, was supported by all Arab League member countries except one, which refrained from calling for Assad’s resignation, although he did not elaborate.
Besides that during the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Arab League decision had been made to call on the Syrian opposition and for the so-called Syrian free army establish transitional government of national unity. It was decided to allocate 100 million dollars financial aid to Syrian refugees.
