The US is not Going to Invade Syria:White House

On Monday the White House press secretary Jay Carney announced that the U.S. is not going to intervene the Syrian situation in a military way or to invade the territory of this country, "President Barack Obama believes that such actions would be wrong," he said, commenting on Republican senator John McCain’s statement that Washington does not exert efforts for the resolution of inter-Syrian conflict.
At the same time, Jay Carney noted that the U.S. administration intends to reach the resignation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, but he will do it through sanctions and further international isolation. White House press spokesman stressed that the United States will continue working together with other countries and will demonstrate military support to the Syrian opposition.
Victoria Nuland - the representative of State Department reported that the US is going to be more active, and not through UN Security Council, where Russia and China blocked the three resolutions concerning Syria, but through other diplomatic channels, taking into account the countries that have the same views as the US concerning this issue, and first of all the members of "Syrian Fellows", ITAR-TASS reports. Victoria Nuland told that Washington intends to coordinate with them its efforts, which are directed to restricting the sanctions against Assad regime, supporting the opposition, which are situated both within the country and outside its boarders. According to him, one of the objectives is to prepare the Syrian opposition for smooth authority transfer and temporary administration, until the Syrian democratic elections.
State Department representative also said that the U.S. considers right the collecting of information on crimes committed against its own citizens by the Syrian authorities, for which the current authorities of Damascus must bear responsibility. According to him, such "cases" on Syrian officials are already being compiled.
In addition, the US may provide humanitarian aid to Syrians, still refraining from supplying ammunition to the opposition. "Other countries have decided to go the other way, but let them speak for themselves," said the American diplomat. At the same time, he left unanswered journalists’ several questions on Arabic countries, particularly concerning the supplement of ammunition to Syrian oppositions by Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
