Bashar Hafez Al-Asaad- State politician in Syria, the 16th president of Syria (from 2000), has been reelected in 2007.
Has anti-American views. American Government has accused him in tendency of terroristic actions and in supporting the regime of Saddam Hussein.
Was born in 1965, September 11, in Damascus, in the family of Syrian army General Hafez Asaad, who became the president of the country later.
In 1988 he has graduated from the faculty of medicine of the university of Damascus. He is a doctor-oculist.

At the beginning, as a leader of the country and his successor Hafez Asaad has seen his eldest son- basil, but the latter died in 1995, in a car accident.
After his brother’s death Bashar returned from Great Briatin (where he had been taking trainings) and got admitted to the military academy. He was given the title of Captain in 1995, and he started to head the tank battalion, after which the Republic guard. After his father’s death he has been elected as the president of Syria.

Asma Al Asaad (maiden name - Asma Favaz Al-Ahraz). She was born in 1975, on August 11, in London. Her father - Favaz Ahraz is a cardiologist-consultant. Her mother - Otri Al- Ahas, is a former diplomat.
Asma excellently graduated from the Royal College of London University (the faculties of French literature and computer technology).
She returned to Syria in the November of 2000 and married to Bashar Asaad in December.
