Coffee Cost Rises for 25-40%

This year, because of the drought and heavy rains in Brazil, the coffee price for Robusta type has risen. The farmers noted that the bad weather conditions allowed to collect only 40 % of the coffee harvest. In the same time, bad results concerning the quality and volumes of the coffee harvest are also expected in 2013.
From the Brazilian market, the buyers started to pay a higher price for Robusta type coffee. Recently the price of Brazilian coffee has reached up to $ 287 per ton.
Besides Brazil, one of the largest coffee suppliers is also Vietnam. Analysts reported that in Vietnam coffee market the prices are on stable level. The prices for Robusta type coffee have increased by 3% in the world stock exchanges. In the beginning of 2012, coffee prices have increased by 24% .
According to the assessment of the Agricultural Foundation Holland Capital LLP in London, in the first term of 2012, on the global scale, 5.5 tones of coffee have been sold this year. This year Brazil exported 1.5 tons of coffee more than in the previous year.
The current drought allows the farmers to quickly collect the rain-affected coffee harvest. The Flavour Coffee representatives reported that in 2012 the main types of coffee will be of a low quality.
