1.5% Deflation is Recorded in RA Consumer Market in the July of 2012

Compared to June, 1.5% deflation is recorded in RA consumer market in the July of 2012. The prices of the grocery (including alcoholic beverages and tobacco) decreased by 2.8% in the mentioned period, while 0.4% and 0.1% increase of prices has been recorded respectively in non-grocery market and in the field of services.
Compared to the December of 2011, the consumer index amounted to 98.1% in the July of 2012, including the groceries (also alcoholic beverages and tobacco)- 95.2%, non-grocery products- 102.2%, service tariffs- 101.5%. The average monthly decrease in consumer prices amounted to 0.3% in January-July (0.1% increase has been recorded in the same period of last year).
Compared to the July of 2011, the consumer index amounted to 102.3% in the July of 2012, including the groceries (also alcoholic beverages and tobacco)- 101.8% , non-grocery products-104.4%, service tariffs- 102.3%. In all the cities observed in the Republic, compared to June, 2.3-1.0% decrease of consumer prices has been recorded, in the July of 2012, in fact Talin recorded the highest indicator of deflation. The consumer prices in the capital decreased by 1.5%.
Compared to June, 3.2% decrease in prices in the July of 2012 has been recorded in the republic, on which the 14.4-3.5% decrease of vegetable, potato, fruit, egg prices left its immediate impact. In the 9 grocery product groups, out of observed 13, 24.4-0.2% deflation has been recorded, and in the other 4- 0.7-2.6% inflation. Compared to June, in the observed cities of the Republic, the vegetable and potato product group prices have been decreased by 32.1-18.6% in the July of 2012, and in fact, the highest indicator of deflation was recorded in Vagharshapat. The vegetable and fruit prices decreased by 23.3% in the capital.
Compared to the July of 2011, fruit product group recorded 20.8% deflation in the July of 2012, and compared to the June of 2012- 17.0% deflation. The latter has mostly been provided by the deflation of water-melon (72.9%), apricot (56.9%), peach (52.5%), cherry (34.3%), pear (29.5%), melon (26.1%). Compared to June, 14.1% and 7.2% deflation of respectively apple and banana has been recorded in the Republic in July, while the prices of orange, lemon and strawberry increased by 9.8-37.3 %. 23.7-5.1% deflation of fruits has been recorded in all the cities observed in the Republic, in fact, that highest indicator of deflation was recorded in Yeghegnadsor. The fruit prices decreased by 192% in the capital.
Compared to the July of 2011, 0.4% inflation in the dairy product group has been recorded in the July of 2012, and compared to the June of 2012- 0.9% defation. The latter has mostly been provided by the 5.4% and 4.1% deflation of respectively “Chanakh” and “Lori” cheese kinds, 3.4% deflation of milk powder and 2.2% of yoghurt.
Compared to June, 0.4% inflation has been recorded in the non-grocery market in the July of 2012, which is the result of the inflation of kitchen dishes- 0.4%, household electronics- 0.5%, fuel-0.7%, jewelry- 0.9%, clothing and fabrics- 1.2%, cosmetic products- 1.9%, carpets- 2.5%, construction materials- 2.5%, cultural products – 5.5%. Compared to June, 2.0% and 1.0% deflation of respectively petrol and diesel fuel has been recorded in the July of 2012 in the Republic. Compared to the July of 2011 the prices of petrol and diesel fuel have increased respectively by 4.3% and 3.1% in the July of 2012, and compared to December- 8.7% and 3.3%. Compared to June, in the 8 cities observed in the Republic 0.1-1.0% inflation of non-grocery products has been recorded in the July of 2-12 in the Republic, and in the 3 cities- 0.2-0.1% deflation. The prices of non-grocery products increased by 0.5 % in the capital.
Compared to June, 0.1% increase of tariffs has been recorded In the field of public service in the July of 2012, which is mostly the result of inflation if tariffs daily-life (0.1%), educational system (0.1%), cultural field (0.2%), public food (0.2%), transportation (0.4%), holiday organization (1.3%) services. The tariffs of banking and legal services decreased by 0.5% in the mentioned period, while the tariffs of household-communal, medical and communication services remained stable. Compared to June, 0.1-0.5% inflation of the tariffs of services has been recorded in the 5 cities observed in the Republic, and in the 3 cities- 0.1% decrease and in the other 3 cities, the tariffs of the services, compared to the previous month, remained stable. The inflation of the tariffs of services amounted to 0.1% in the capital.
