Who do Medvedev and Putin Work for?
Russia
According to four citizens from five in Russia RF President Vladimir Putin presents not their interests, but serves to power structures, olygarkhs and bureaucrats. Such a result was registered in new questioning of “Levada center”, reports RBC.
Thus, during the last year and a half (beginning from January of 2011) increased the number of Russians, which think that Putin represents interests of power structures (from 31% grew to 43%), on the second place, according to the respondents, are olygarkhs, bankers and big businessmen (from 26% to 39%), on the third place are officers, bureaucrats (from 24% to 32%). Increasingly decreased the number of people which think that Putin defends interests of middle class, including interests of workers and officers.
“Updated Putin is the Putin, which noticeably took the line of state bureaucracy and big businessmen, of the people, in which main resources are fixed”, said representative of “Levada center”.
As for Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev, he is perceived as a person, which represents interests of “Putin’s surrounding people” (39% of respondents think so). More Russians are convinced that Medvedev represents interests of power structures (25%), and less people are of the opinion that he defends interests of the middle class (15%).
However, at presidential elections Vladimir Putin gathered 60% of votes, and after elections the discontent of the opposition began to decline. Besides the numerous protests in Moscow and Saint Petersburg the situation in the two cities was under control.
“The fact that about 60% support Putin is a very curious phenomenon. It shows that people don’t see any alternative”, says the center representative.
