"British Airways" company will terminate the flights to Armenia from October 13, 2012. Today the media department of “British Airways” company’s Armenian branch reported on this to Aysor.am. "According to the official answer of the head office of the company, the flights to Armenia are going to be terminated from October 13, 2012, because of the low level profitability.”
Note, that this was reported by Alexan Zaqyan- the head of the incoming tour-operator union of Armenia, in the meeting with journalists today,
“The tariffs of “Zvartnots” airport are so high, that many airways just don’t come to Armenia. As a result of that, “British airways” too, will refuse to make flights to Armenia starting from September. Tomorrow the same issue is possible with Czech or other airways. Being in a blockade our country has to effect on the airport tariffs in some way,” he said, adding that instead, due to the reasonable tariffs, the same airways company doubled the number of London- Georgia flights
Note, that “Zvartnots” airport informed an Aysor.am reporter, that “Zvartnots” has never faced such an issue and they are unaware of it.
“That is a widespread fact, when one or another airways company terminates flights to one or another country. We have never has such an issue, on the contrary, during the last 6-7 months, the number of the flights to Armenia has tripled,” media department of the airport informed.
