Iranian President Arrives in Saudi Arabia to Discuss the Situation in Syria
World
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived in Saudi Arabia on the eve of the extraordinary summit of the Islamic Cooperation Organization convened in Mecca, which will be devoted to the Syrian conflict. The world's largest alliance of Islamic countries has 57 members. Note, that Tehran and Riyadh have completely different views on the issue of Syria. Saudi Arabia supports the Syrian rebels, while Iran continues to remain the main supporter of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The intensity between the two countries is also affected by the international sanctions against the Iranian oil exports, based on which Saudi Arabia has increased its oil sales volume.
Note that, according to lawyers, today the Syrian government continues to bomb the most important districts of Damascus. Battles are going on as well in Harashtin city, which is the base of the Syrian rebels.
