Syrian-Armenian children to visit Baze camp

125 Syrian-Armenian children visited Tsakhkadzor on August 13 where met with the participants of “Baze-2012” youth camp,reports the Public Relations Service of the Youth Foundation of Armenia.
They participated in a number of sports and cultural events.
17 year-old Ara Noyemyan from Damascus is for the first time in Armenia. He says, he’s never seen so many Armenian youngsters gathered from different parts of the world, it’s very interesting for him to get acuqinted with Armenians of his age. He states that the atmosphere in Damascus is not so alert as international media reports, but it’s safer in Armenia. After his 15-day vacation he’ll leave for Syria to his parents.
13-year-old Hakob Karapet said he spends his vacations in Armenia every summer. Here he learns national songs and dances, studies Armenian history.
Head of the group Perch Ter-Sahakyan said most children are visiting Armenia for the first time. They were excited to see Ararat Mount and feel hospitality of Armenia’s residents, he added.
This year’s camp marks the 10th anniversary of Baze. Within 10 years the camp brought together over 8,000 young people from Armenia and Diaspora.
