Russian state agencies to look into Armavia’s issue
Economy
It’s stated in PM Dmitri Medvedev’s protocol that Russia’s Foreign Ministry and Ministry of Trade will look into the matter of Armavia’s refusal to operate Sukhoi Superjet-100, reports vz.ru website. Instruction execution time – September 15 states Interfax.
As Vzglyad newspaper reported, in July Armavia confirmed the refusal to buy the second Sukhoi Superjet-100, instead, decided to buy three Boeing planes from Airbus.
According to Investcafe’s analyst Andrei Shenk, in case of SSJ-100 Armavia company evaluated the quality-price ratio higher as in case of Airbus’ Boeing, i.e. Russian plane is expensive. In any case Sukhoi refused to lower the price for the purpose that other orderers of SSJ-100 couldn’t press on them and demand to lower the price, states the expert.
Another source, accustomed to the situation, in its turn announced that the Armenian company refused from the second Sukhoi Superjet-100 because of existing financial problems in the company. This edifies that the air-carrier has financial problems and couldn’t pay the leasing payments for the second plane.
Armavia bought the first Sukhoi Superjet-100 plane in the April of 2011 calling it in honor of Yuri Gagarin. A year later, in the April of 2012 President of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Mikhail Pogosyan informed that SSJ-100 plane realized flight for 2000 hours within a year, which is a very good pointer for a new plane.
