LONDON LOCKDOWN What does lockdown mean and when could it start in London?
OtherLONDON is braced for lockdown as Tube stations shut and soldiers are on standby to help combat the coronavirus crisis which so far has killed 184 people nationwide.
Downing Street say the draconian measures such as restricting movement seen in other countries will not be imposed but there could be tougher restrictions.
Fears that London could be put on lockdown are growing. Pubs, restaurants, theatres, cinemas, gyms and leisure centres are set to shut.
But what does a lockdown entail? What we might expect, of course, is what is happening in Italy, France or Spain.
Essentially all non-essential movements would be banned and enforced by law, that is police.
The army could be called in should law and order begin to break down and to help with food and medicine distribution.
Meanwhile funerals and weddings might not take place in the days, weeks and months the lockdown is imposed.
