London Olympic gold is 3.3 times more expensive than the Beijing one

The awarded gold medals in London Olympic Games have been 227.8% or 3.28 times more expensive (708 US dollars each) than the ones awarded in Beijing Olympic Games (216 US dollars each),- reports “Vestnik zolotopromishlennika” periodical.
In the same time, the cost of gold has increased by 77.3% in LBMA stock exchange, in the period between the mentioned 2 Olympic Games.
London gold medals have mostly been made of 92.5% silver and 6.5% copper. 6 grams of gold have been used for lining each. Each medal weighed about 412 grams, with 7 mm thickness. In the entire history of the Summer Olympics, London medals have been the biggest and the heaviest ones.
