Russia detained Armavia airplane

The scandal of Armavia airlines’ refusal of SSJ airplanes has received a new course. The seller of SSJ airplanes, Sukhoi Superjets (SSJ) CJSC accused Armavia company of not following the terms of the contract and detained the company’s airplane in the territory of Russia. SSJ doesn’t exclude the fact of applying to the court, in order to make Armavia pay the debts, besides, it’s possible, that new airplanes are detained until the payment of the debt. Vneshbank as well submitted a complaint against Armavia, suddenly remembering about the debt accumulated in exchange for the services in 2010.
SSJ Vice President of Finances, Yevgeni Konkov reported, that Armavia has failed to fulfill contract terms of SSJ aircraft, which should’ve been fulfilled up to August 15. Armavia refusing from the already being used and newly ordered airplanes, is obliged to pay 4 million US dollars, according to the contract, or has to obtain the second airplane, again according to the contract. Armavia has failed to fulfill both of these two conditions, as a result of which, SSJ Armavia airplane, which was in the territory of the RF for repair, has been detained and is not going to be returned to the airlines. Now it’s in Zhukov airport.
Yevgeni Konkov mentioned, that Armavia’s refusal from the airplanes will create legal problems, since the company has already pawned the airplane for several times. Despite Konkov has refused to mention the names of the banks, where the airplanes have been pawned, but Commersant’s sources, familiar with the situation, reported, that one of that banks is Ardshininvestbank. Besides, SSJ airplane has served as a guarantee for the CRJ (Bombardier) airplanes, obtained for 3.5 million US dollars.
