Armenian brandy export volumes increase
Economy
Armenian brandy - a product having the largest export volumes, has a quite high demand in the international market. Due to that fact, brandy production and export volumes have significantly increased in recent years.
RA National Statistical Service observes brandy export volumes in the product line of vodka, rum and gin. NSS reported to Armenpress, that if 10 years ago only 8,133 tons of brandy, vodka, rum and gin have been exported from Armenia, then only in the first half of this year 21,038 tons (total of 77.8 million US dollars) have been exported. In the same period of the previous year, 12,271 tons have been exported and during the entire year - 32,558 tons, total cost of 131.2 million dollar.
According to the data of State Revenue Committee, the production volume of Armenian brandy has amounted to 14,482,644.3 liters in 2011, export volume- 12,094,477.3 liters, domestic sales volume- 2,129,818.8 liters.
In 2011, 28 economic subjects have implemented activity in the field of brandy in Armenia; the 22% of the total production is carried out by the "Yerevan Brandy Factory" CJSC, 20% - "Proshyan Brandy Factory" LLC, and 19.9% - "Yerevan Ararat Brandy-wine-vodka Factory" OJSC.
Armenian brandy provides the 2% of brandy market of the entire world. Yerevan Brandy Company’s "Ararat" brandy with its entire products- "Ani", "Excellent", "Akhtamar", "Tonakan" and "Nairi", continues to remain the brand of Armenia in the international market. The largest market for Armenian brandy consumption remains Russia, followed by the Ukraine and only then by European countries.
It should also be noted that, despite the best traditions of wine and brandy production, the statistics show that the consumption of alcoholic beverages in Armenia has vodka, then wine, and only then brandy.
