Serj Tankian celebrates his 45th anniversary

American-Armenian rock musician and composer Serj Tankian is celebrating his 45th anniversary today. He is the founder of world famous System of a Down alternative metal-rock band and Axis of Justice NGO. Serj appears with his numerous performances criticizing injustice and cruelty. Cooperating with Tom Morello he formed Axis of Justice, the aim of which is to support the youth defend their rights in political sphere. They organized lots of charitable campaigns; they exert great efforts to make the USA and Turkey accept and recognize the Armenian Genocide.
“My civil activity and politicized orientation is response to the USA’s fake denial of the Armenian Genocide”, said he in one of the interviews.
At the Telephone Marathon of 2011 “Give water-give life” he appeared with the call to unite and to make sure that every citizen will have clear drinking water.
Serj Tankian also touches upon problems of nature protection, for example in his concert in Philadelphia he appeared with the t-shirt of Teghut.
On June 10, 2012 Serzh Tankian’s and Vanadzor resident Anzhela Madatyan’s wedding took place in Malibu.
The musician is recognized as the world's 26th best metal vocalist.
