Arrested for kissing Buddha statue

The court of Sri Lanka gave three French tourists to six months of conditional sentence of imprisonment and obliged them to pay 1.5 thousand rupees ($11) for offending Buddha statue. As France Presse informs, two women and a man decided to take photos in Kandi city, next to Buddha statue; at the same time the man tried to imitate the position of the statue and one of the French tourists kissed the lips of the statue.
Then, employees of a photographer’s studio, while printing photos of the tourists, saw the photos and applied to the Police. According to the Police the photos offended the employees’ religious feelings.
