Iranian summit began: NAM runs up?

NAM 16th summit works began yesterday in Tehran. It’s expected that main discussions will be held around Iran’s nuclear program.
The summit which begins with an expert meeting will last 6 days. The meeting, at which 107 envoys participated, was opened by Iran MFA Ali Akbar Salehi.
Member countries’ meeting on August 28-29 will follow the expert discussions and the summit will end with the meeting of high ranking officials, supposedly of Presidents on August 30-31, Iran’s official Irna agency reports.
To note, the USA called heads of the countries and UNO’s secretary general not to participate in the Iranian summit. Besides that, Ban Ki Mun will leave for Tehran.
By the way, according to some non-official data, the RA President Serzh Sargsyan is also going to take part in the summit.
To note, Non-Aligned Movement has 118 member countries, mainly from Asia and Africa. The Movement was formed by the offer of President of Yugoslavia Tito in 1961 and pursed two main goals: struggle against colonialism and struggle against military alliances. Member countries of the Movement also struggle against influence of Cold War countries – the USA and Russia.
According to some experts after the collapse of the Soviet Union the NAM has consumed itself, though the organization has reinterpreted its goals and focused on globalization, trade and investments, international terror and other issues.
It’s remarkable, that main works of NAM are held in UNO New York Office by the UNO member countries’ Ambassadors.
