Hungary’s MFA sent a protest note to Azerbaijan in connection with Ramil Safarov’s pardoning, BBC reports.
Ramil Safarov, which was serving his sentence for axing Armenia’s officer Gurgen Margaryan in Hungary and state agencies of that country extradited him to Azerbaijan within the frames of the convention, which was signed both by Budapest and Baku, according to which the sentenced persons can serve their punishment in their hometown. But when Safarov arrived in Azerbaijan, President Aliyev pardoned him.
Hungary’s Deputy MFA informed Azerbaijan’s Ambassador that Budapest “considers unacceptable pardoning Ramil Safarov and condemns it.”
