Hungarian authorities made unacceptable and lousy decision against Armenia: Former PM of Hungary
General News
Today the former PM of Hungary wrote on his Facebook page, addressing RA president Serzh Sargsyan, which particularly reads:
"Dear Mr. President,
It was a pity to learn about the decision of the Hungarian government, according to which, Azerbaijan received its citizen, who had severely killed an Armenian soldier in Budapest. Let me express my opinion on this: Hungarian authorities have made a decision, which is unacceptable and lousy against Armenian people and causes great tension in the region. I inform you that the incident has caused great indignation among Hungarian people. In that regard, protests are being organized in Budapest. As you know, during my office Azerbaijani government has repeatedly asked to return people, who have committed murders. Because of the absence of guarantees, that the convicts won’t be released, my government decided to reject the request. I observe with regret that Hungary’s decision might terminate Armenian-Azerbaijani dialogue and cause great harm to the Armenian-Hungarian relations. As a former Hungarian Prime Minister, I would like to point out that, contrary to this step of the Hungarian government, many people express concern about handing over the Azerbaijani criminal and Azerbaijan’s attitude towards him. Let me once again express my solidarity and double condolence to the parents and relatives of the murdered Armenian military officer Gurgen Margaryan. I am convinced, that Hungarians’ and Armenians’ friendly relations can strengthen in the future.
Budapest 2012, September 2
Sincerely, Hungarian Prime Minister, Gyurcsány Ferenc
