Andrea Bocelli to get special award marking 20-year career at Classic Brits

The Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli is to be given a special award at this year's Classic Brits to mark his 20th anniversary in the industry, the guardian reports.
Bocelli has released 22 albums with sales of more than 75m over the years and will receive his international artist of the year award at a ceremony where he is also nominated as male artist of the year and in the album of the year category for Concerto – One Night in Central Park.
Up against him for male artist of the year will be the pianist Lang Lang and Vasily Petrenko, the Russian conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.
The full nominations were released on Thursday for the 13th Classic Brit awards on 2 October. The Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti is nominated in the best female artist category for her album Italia along with the trumpeter Alison Balsom for Seraph and the American mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato for Diva Divo – Opera Arias.
