USA: Remembrance Day of Victims of Terrorism of 2001

Today the United States commemorates the memory of the victims of terrorism of September 11, 2001.
11 years ago on this day, two acts of terrorism took place in New York and Washington, USA, and terrorists killed 2974 people. 24 were lost. U.S. citizens and other citizens of 91 countries died. According the official version, the terrorism acts have been made by number one terrorist Osama Ben Laden, who leads the “Al Qaeda” terrorist organization.
On September 11of 2001, the 4 passenger airplanes hijacked by 19 terrorists, directed towards the world trade center Twin Towers and the Pentagon building.
Today this date is remembered in the USA as a global day of mourning, as a "Renaissance Day".
Such a proposal was made by Mayor Michael Blumberg. Survivors and victims' families, rescuers and the heroes of that day are going to participate in the event, which is going to take place at the memorial, built for the 10-year anniversary of the tragedy.
According to the tradition, 4 minutes silence will be announced, but without mentioning the names of all the victims. Their names are engraved on the memorial, which has covered the place where once stood the Twin Towers.
In the evening two huge shades of light are to flash in the city, as a sign of Twin Towers, which will be visible outside of Manhattan, and will disappear with the dawn.
Today in the place of Twin Towers, world trade center, destroyed in the result of terrorism, stands the Tower of Liberty. Tower construction began 6 years ago, this 104-story building will be the highest in the Western Hemisphere and the world's third highest skyscraper. The height of the building is 541 meters, which symbolizes the date of the adoption of the Declaration of US Independence. It will be presented to the public in the December of 2012.
Project cost is $ 3.8 billion.
