New York's Statue of Liberty to reopen in October

The interior of the statue, which has been closed for renovations for a year, is due to reopen Oct. 28 - Lady Liberty's 126th birthday, USA today reports.
Visitors will ride in new elevators and have access to remodeled restrooms. Stairways are also being redone to make them safer in case of emergency. Even the water in drinking fountains will be cooler.
The big news is that wheelchair users can now go to the top of the pedestal via a wheelchair lift.
Fewer people per day will be allowed in, says Daphne Yun, a statue spokeswoman, as work is still going on. But visitors can go to the crown for $20, adult; $12, children 4-12 -- $3 more than before.
