Armenian national football team captain ends professional career

Armenian capital city Yerevan’s FC Pyunik and national football squad captain Sargis Hovsepyan has retired from the game, Pyunik informs. And the 39-year-old legendary player released a statement in this connection.
“I have been in professional football for 24 years. [And] Ever since Armenia’s independence, I completely devoted myself to our football. I always entered the pitch with the motto of victory and the concept of fair play. But I believe the time has come for me to end my exploits.
Naturally, the long road of football was not easy, and I wish to thank all those with whom we crafted the history of this period.
I wish to especially thank Armenian national team manager Vardan Minasyan. Under his leadership, our squad has reached the greatest heights. I am thankful to all my teammates. Thanks to the football fans that supported us.
I am happy to have been in football for such long years. I wish great triumphs to Armenia’s national team, to Armenian football, and to my dear Pyunik,” Sargis Hovsepyan’s statement reads in particular.
