In his exclusive interview with Al-Jazeera, Stéphane Charbonnier, the editor in chief of French "Charlie Hebdo” satirical magazine, has defended the decision of publishing the caricatures of Prophet Muhammad.
Stéphane Charbonnier said that his newspaper gets problems when it comes to Islam, when there is a danger to receive a violent response.
"Nothing wrong has been done, since my newspaper has not violated the law of France by publishing that caricatures,” he said.
He also said that the response of French officials to the incident has been even more surprising to him than the steps taken by Muslims.
