20% of New York population is poor

The number of the poor has reached 1.7 million in the largest megapolis of USA. This is the biggest index of poverty in the last 10 years.
According to the U.S. data of the census conducted in the States, the 20% of New York residents, which is 1.7 million people is on the threshold of poverty. In comparison it’s mentioned, that only 13% of Russian population is poor. Family is considered poor in the USA, when it consists of 3 people and the annual income of which doesn’t exceed 18,500 U.S. dollars.
According to analysts, these data suggest that social imbalance continues to dominate in New York. Thus, 20% of the income of the richest people of the Megapolis exceeds the income of most poor people for about 40 times.
Besides, if previously the lowest wage workers were mostly young people, today there is no age limitations of the applicants for that job.
According to census data, the highest level of poverty has been recorded among Hispanic residents of New York, when abvoe-65 residents don’t have higher education and are unable to find a job.
