Der Standart: Libya liquidates all illegal militias

Libyan authorities adopted a decision to dissolve the militias, operating in the territory of the country. In accordance with the decision, the liquidation will apply to all those militias, the aactivities of which are not controlled by the government. Special headquarters of Benghazi are to deal of the liquidation process . Representatives of legally armed organizations subject to MIA, DM and army are among the special headquarters of Benghazi.
The decision was made after the residents of the city of North-Libyan Benghazi , complaining on the influence of the militias which are not being controlled by the government, attacked the Islamic “Ansar al-Sharia” base, as a result of which 11 died, 70 were injured. After that the authority of “Ansar al-Sharia” base decided to terminate the operation of the organization.
A great number of militias appeared in Libya in the Fall of 2011, after the destruction of ex-president Muamar al Kadaffi regime. The rebellious masses, which were fighting against the regime up to that, were involved in the militias. According to them, their aim is the maintenance of order in the country, but the law enforcements accuse them in many crimes. As a result of that only some of the militias underwent the newly established government.
