WBC heavyweight champion Vitaly Klitschko announced the end of his professional career on Monday, Ostrov reports. The 41 year old said his younger brother Wladimir, the WBA, IBF and WBO belts holder, will now fight in the ring for both of them.
The elder Klitschko, who is getting more and more involved in politics, told a press conference in Donetsk that he does not intend to enter the boxing ring any more.
“I can say to all fans of boxing, that the Ukrainian flag will be raised many times and the Ukrainian anthem will sound, when Klitschko comes into the ring,” Vitaly says.
“If you're referring to me, then I'm not going to box anymore. I have a brother, who is like me but is younger and more talented. So I was meaning my younger brother Wladimir,” he pointed out.
On September 8, Vitaly held his 47th professional fight, when he beat German Manuel Charr by a technical knockout to fix his career record at 45 wins, including 41 by KO, and just two losses.
After that, ‘Dr. Ironfist’ said he plans to focus on the upcoming parliamentary election in Ukraine.
