Armenia to receive €43 million from EU

Armenian PM Tigran Sargsyan and European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle on Thursday signed two agreements on a €43-million EU assistance to Armenia.
During their subsequent joint news conference, the European Commissioner noted that positive changes have taken place in Armenia in the recent years and this had contributed to the decision to allocate an additional €15 million to the country. As per Füle, they also discussed the preparations for next year’s presidential elections in Armenia, and in the context that the country’s ongoing democratic reforms will be continuous.
In his turn, PM Tigran Sargsyan stated that the EU financial and technical assistance will enable to substantially increase the Armenian Government’s capacity in terms of improving infrastructures and democratic institutions.
“The signing of these documents will gather a momentum for the EU integration processes,” Sargsyan added.
