Oskanyan’s persecution carries political nature: Serj Tankian
Society
Serj Tankian released a statement, which is presented below:
“Armeia’s former MFA Vartan Oskanian’s persecution utterly has a political nature. At the beginning of 2011 Jon Huntsman’s foundation provided money to Oskanyan. Actions against Oskanyan have been undertaken after he returned to politics in 2012.
Civilitas social foundation, which was founded by Mr Oskanyan, has done a perfect job in Armenia and a diplomatic job beyond the country.
It’s of utmost importance for a developing democratic country, which should put an end to the monopoly towards press, economy and state institutions. It’s very important that citizen’s of Armenia could freely express their preferences and complaints through free and fair elections by the observation of international authoritative organizations.
For centuries we were under the influence of this or that foreign country. Irrespective of the fact that we have loyals and allies and as a nation need to support, but our democracy and economy shouldn’t be sacrificed to influences from the West (particularly from the USA) or from Russia.
We should collectively overcome the blear-eyed policy to control economy and policy inherited from the Soviet period and enable our citizens the freedom of expression of will earned through centuries”
